Brother Sun, Sister Moon: Saint Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Creatures

St Mark’s Church Teddington and Southwark Cathedral

Sorry, this event has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic

In 1224, Saint Francis of Assisi wrote a simple hymn of praise that beautifully encompasses all that he experienced in the Italian countryside.

Almost 800 years later, Katherine Paterson reimagines the hymn in poetic language that shares Francis’s honest and direct gaze at all aspects of life and resonates with the joy, light and shadow found there.
In 2020 we will dance this hymn through a suite of dances created by Judy and choreographed to music by many different people.

We will learn the dances in St Mark’s Church, Teddington and on Monday afternoon we will move into the beauty that is Southwark Cathedral to dance this suite in The Nave which has been removed of all its chairs.

Cost: £210 per person.

This includes light lunches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; supper on Friday; teas, coffee and biscuits throughout and travel to Southwark Cathedral on the Monday morning. Evening meals are eaten in local restaurants, pubs or takeaways and are arranged and paid for individually.

It does not include any workshop material CD dance notation that you choose to buy.

You need to arrange your own accommodation and travel to King’s College on Monday.

Booking: Please book with a non - returnable deposit of £75
